Syncom Data guys have started simultaneously two labels that already during the first audition don’t sound even remotely related to each other. While Westcoast Cruisers are dropping some heavy electrobotics on Den Haag, Tour Messier is inaugurated with the experimental solo EP from Philipp Otterbach, a long-term resident at Düsseldorf’s Salon des Amateurs and a Grokenberger Records artist.

In “Humans” we encounter linguistic maze, when track names look like being randomly typed on the keyboard, such as the A1 cut “XSvrIZKI8mk”, which is a Pooh-o-logical drone study, featuring samples from a Soviet animated version of Winnie the Pooh. Keeping the same downtempo mood, “kEmHHqBrnQM” is placed under the veil of meditative dark ambient and cinematic vocal samples.

The flip side delivers submission and suffering in a Gothic atmosphere, starting with quasi-industrial “Mfz1YrpMbBg”, where iron-clad percussion and oozing drones are dampening human complaints. Then it’s five past midnight in “5CnAPD39cUQ”, when everything has fallen into the void but the hope will be reinstated with a lost groove from the body music realms.
