After picking up “Off The Chain” a few years ago, I’ve been aware of Vin Sol as a hard-working master of sweaty tracks but it took a while to retrieve another one from the Californian producer. His return to UTTU this autumn is a suitable occasion to warm up everybody before the Christmas.
This is an a**-shaking and drum-crazy 2017 tribute to Dance Mania, whereas in the aptly titled theme ‘song’ “Ruff Rugged And Raw” parallels can be drawn with Relief’s housier side. Stripped to the bone “95 Toreback” and acid-soaked “My Mind” on the flip are taking us to percussive hell while jittery drums and snappy vocal samples of “Body Snatchers” are embodying ghetto mania par excellence.
