Four years after the stunning twelve “D’Americana / Auto-Lies”, Gombeen & Doygen return with their trademark smudgy dub-tripping. In a devilish portrayal of “Prada”, the duo is proudly wearing the basse-couture skin. It’s an extraordinary session of stoned German lyrics over deviant dubs and guitar effects. Bubbling, sluggish cut is dripping of acid without any application of 303, adding a somnambulist twist to Rhythm & Sound textures.
“The Sequel” is a stomping crowd charmer, drinking from phaser effects and elastic dub blitzes and prescribed for rubber-boot disco in the mud. Thus James Grünfeld and Morgan Buckley are going for an extra mile when challenging the traditions of dub techno, creating both hilarious and mesmerizing leftfield.
Luckily, the Wah Wah Wino label is giving us no rest. The album “Wino-E” just landed, and the label’s co-owner Omid Geadizadeh continues the program with an EP.
