Hello office slaves – this is Uncle Anger arriving with a bag of goodies to make you jump up and down. Strongly fuelled by nineties influences from the gritty ends of Chicago and Detroit, the UK producer Luke’s Anger impresses with a four-tracker on Co-Accused Records.
In the pumping, snare and hi-hat driven title cut of the “Corporate Hell EP”, the artist follows the footsteps of Tim Harper, Paul Johnson and associates. “The Sentinel” chooses a quirky angle of machine funk, reminding of Tresor’s vintage UK pack around Neil Landstrumm, Si Begg and Subhead. The B-side opener “UFOh No!” picks the roughest elements of the flip, bulldozing ahead in off-road conditions. “Haffa Bar Jack” lays all cards on the table when another hellish strike arrives from the jack’s home. Bleepy, frenzied cut for further heat on the floor, pinging Relief all over the place. For further action, check Luke’s Anger EPs on Earwiggle, Bleeper, to name a few.
