The following is kind of a top-six where I’m listing new releases in my collection, a few promos and interesting finds on Bandcamp that is becoming my favorite source for new sounds. It’s good to remind that on March 20th, Bandcamp artists netted USD $4.3 million, in a bright Friday sale when the music marketplace waived all commissions in favor of creators. It underscored Bandcamp’s special status as a true supporter of independent scene and all people who genuinely love music. An opposite example can be brought about Soundcloud that jumped Covid-19 train with crocodile tears in their eyes, when announcing a 50% discount that actually doesn’t exist for current users.
Of course physical shops and mail order sites are important for the scene and need support too, but Bandcamp’s abundance is really attractive, spanning from established musicians and bedroom obscurities from New York to Tehran, from London to Tallinn.
